 NEW MEMBERS OF PARLIAMENT TAKE OATH

Chief Justice Andrew Nyirenda has asked newly elected Members of Parliament to apply impartial judgment when executive duties.

Nyirenda was speaking on Friday at the Parliament Building in Lilongwe when he administered the oath of office for the 7 Legislators who emerged victorious in the March 30 by-election. 

Nyirenda said the oath represented "moral commitment to public values and public duty".

Among the new Members of Parliament is Nsanje Central ambassador Kafandikhale Mandevana who said is paramount for duty bearers to respect and honor the oath of office. 

On his part, Mandevana has promised to serve his constituents and the country in general with total commitment.

The Malawi Electoral Commission held by-elections in Nsanje Central Constituency, Nsanje North Constituency, Chikwawa East Constituency, Ntchisi North Constituency, Zomba Changalume Constituency, Lilongwe Msinja South Constituency, Karonga North West Constituency as well as Liviridzi Ward in Balaka West Constituency and Chitakale Ward in Mulanje South Constituency.
