NGO HAILS MEN FOR REPORTING CASES OF GBV

By Rhodrick Banda

As different human rights stakeholders take stock of this year’s observance of 16 days of activism against gender based violence, the Foundation for Rural Development says there is need to engage another gear in fighting abuse.

In an interview with Timveni its country director Grace Ndelemani said the organization is impressed that 16 days offered men an opportunity to come forward to voice out various forms of abuse they face in families as well as at the work places.

She said their organization will make sure that all the cases filed before the country’s courts are handled to the end until perpetrators of various forms of abuse have faced the law.

Ndelemani cited child marriages as some cases people reported during the period under review.

Malawi observes the 16 days of activism against gender based violence from 25 November to 10 December every year.
