NGO PETITIONS JUDICIARY OVER DZIMADZI CASE RULING

By Blessings Bomati

The Centre for Youth and Children Affairs (CEYCA) has filed a petition to the judiciary and other stakeholders for a speedy review of a court case judgment between the state and Mr Vincent Dzimadzi (the accused) in Ntcheu District.

CEYCA’s reaction comes after the senior magistrate court sitting in Ntcheu District found the suspect without a case to answer in a ruling delivered in a public court in Ntcheu on Friday 4th March 2022.

Mr Vincent Dzimadzi committed the crime on a child 14 years of age in Ntcheu District around October in 2021.

Speaking with Timveni Online, Center for Youth and Children Affairs executive director Desmond Nyuma Mhango said the petition is to see the speedy progress of this case as they believe that the judgment was not in accordance with the preservation of child rights.

Mhango has also expressed concern about the witnesses that were denied after being introduced in the case.
