NICE ADVOCATES FOR YOUTH INVOLVEMENT IN ENDING DEFILEMENT

The National Initiative for Civic Education (NICE) Trust says youth participation in issues of child rights and responsibilities is vital to ending defilement and other forms of child abuse.

The sentiments come after Nice Trust sensitized the youth on child rights and their responsibility in Blantyre Rural.

Speaking to Timveni , NICE District Education Officer for both Blantyre rural and urban, Glory Ngosi-Maulidi, said imparting knowledge to students on their rights and responsibilities in schools has helped the students to start reporting issues of defilement and other abuses that have been impeding them in their course of studies.

Maulidi further said the program has been a success with cooperation from community leaders who were on the forefront helping the youth to know more about their rights and responsibilities.

She therefore asked parents and guardians not to relent but take a step by encouraging children to report any cases of child abuse at any level to stop the vice.
