By Esther Manduwa

Health authorities in Nkhotakota have hailed Illovo Sugar Company for renovating the district hospital’s pharmacy which was gutted down by fire in October last year.

The officials said this on Monday when the company was making a donation of Covid-19 equipments at the health facility.

Director of health and social services at Nkhotakota district hospital Wezzie Mwakilama said the donation was timely.

" The hospital has been using a covid-19 isolation room as pharmacy while the covid-19 patients were being attended to in a vacant TB ward since the incident happened," said Mwakilama.

Apart from renovating the pharmacy, Illovo has donated Covid-19 equipments which include Oxygen concentrators, oxygen cylinders and nebulizers among others worth forty million kwacha.

The donation is part of K100 Million that Illovo pledged to support government in the fight against Covid-19.
