NYCOM IMPRESSED WITH YOUTH PARTICIPATION IN U-REPORT

By Blessings Bomati
The National Youth Council (NYCOM) has commended the U-Reporter Impact Program for creating a better platform for the youth to have their say on issues that affect them in their everyday lives.
The program was introduced in 2018 by UNICEF in conjunction with NYCOM to empower the youth to participate in national issues by sending a message to a mobile phone number 1177.
Speaking with Timveni Online, NYCOM Public Relations Officer Yvonne Sundu said there is good progress in the implementation of the program with over 240, 000 youths working as U Reporters.
Sundu added that UNICEF engaged NYCOM on several national agendas and there has been feedback on youth participation on issues of national interest.
