The Shire Valley Agriculture Development Division has embarked on a massive foot-and-mouth disease vaccination exercise in Chikwawa and Nsanje districts with the aim of eradicating the disease in the districts.
The exercise, which began on Tuesday, targets over 21,700 livestock in the two Agricultural Extension Planning Areas.
Abraham Banda, communications manager for the Shire Valley Agriculture Development Division, says the vaccination exercise is a routine preventive measure against an outbreak and there are currently no cases of foot and mouse disease in the districts.
Meanwhile, Banda has warned farmers in the two districts against selling their farm produce to vendors so that they should reap the benefits of their labour.
