By Wilson Allan Phiri

As schools are on holidays, parents and guardians have been encouraged to safeguard children’s rights.

Trends have shown that children suffer most abuses at home than school which are safe spaces.

Child rights activist Desmond MHANGO said, "Children are at risk of facing numerous abuses during these holidays."

Mhango cited hazardous chores children are tasked with but such work is usually seen as normal.

In an interview with Timveni Online, Mhango said, "The previous Covid-19 induced holiday exposed numerous challenges including teenage pregnancies."

He expressed worry that girls remain the most affected hence need for urgent action
