PARLIAMENT TO LAUNCH A POPULATION AND SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT CAUCUS

As one way of dealing with the country’s rapid population growth, Parliament is set to launch a Population and Sustainable Development Caucus on Friday 12th August 2022.

This has been disclosed by Member of Parliament for Dowa West Abel Kayembe and Thyolo Central legislator Ben Phiri, who are the Chairperson and Vice Chairperson of the caucus respectively.

According to Kayembe, the country is sitting on a time bomb if it cannot manage the population growth in line with the sustainable development goals hence the need for the parliamentary committee. 

Kayembe also disclosed that the Caucus would be championing and advocating for policy reforms on population growth at Parliamentary level.
