POLICE CALLS FOR COLLABORATIVE EFFORTS AMONG AGENCIES IN COMBATING CRIME

The Malawi Police Service has underscored the need for security agencies to work together in combating crime in the country.

Northern Region Police Operations Officer, Billy Chimbanga, says most organized crimes require concerted efforts to be dealt with.

Chimbanga made the remarks recently when Northern Region Police organized a hiking exercise which saw Malawi Prison Services, Malawi Immigration Services, Department of Forestry and Lions Cage Security Service taking part.

He then described the joint exercise as a step forward in ensuring that security officers are physically strong to combat the crime.

In his remarks, Northern Region Police Sports Coordinator Jonathan Msiska pledged to continue with different sporting activities to cement a good working relationship between the police and other security agencies.

A total of 178 officers from all the participating stakeholders participated during the joint exercises that saw the group hiking hills of Kaning’ina, Kamfwiyo, and Kanyerangozo, covering a distance of about 14 Kilometers.
