 ROGER FEDERER DONATES TOWARDS ECD

Government has hailed the support that several stakeholders are providing towards Early Childhood Development initiatives in the country.

This follows the donation of 3000 early learning kiosks for early childhood development by the Roger Federer Foundation to caregivers across the country.

Speaking during the ceremony on Tuesday, president and founder of Roger Federer Foundation, tennis star Roger Federer, said the tablets comprise of many interesting applications which will help the caregivers to provide quality education in their centers.

Federer gave an example of the Know How App which he said is a comprehensive course on early learning self-guided to be done in learning groups with audio, videos and an African Storybook attached to it.

In her remarks, Minister of Gender, Community Development and Social Welfare, Patricia Kaliati, hailed the support and said government is committed to improving ECD in the country.

She said, as one way of showing commitment, government will soon start giving caregivers monthly honoraria of twenty thousand kwacha monthly.

Kaliati has therefore asked other well-wishers to join government in improving ECD in the country.
