RURAL GROWTH CENTERS STILL ON THE AGENDA

By Emma Zawanda

Minister of Local Government Lingson Berekanyama has told Parliament construction of rural growth centers remains on government radar.

Berekanyama said the increased funding in the proposed 2020/2021 budget to the local development funds will help the ministry proceed with its plan of constructing rural growth centres nationwide.

LDF has been allocated Forty-Two Billion Kwacha in the financial blue print.

He said the Tonse Alliance will sustain development projects that were rolled out during the previous regime.

He however expressed concern that most rural growth centres are poorly constructed citing Chimwaza Market in Dowa district.
