Action Aid has embarked on livestock pass on campaign valued at K4 Million with an aim of stamping out gender-based violence in Dedza district.
The project is projected to reach out to over 200 women in the coming years.
Through the Kasumbu Women Forum, Action Aid is set to distribute 45 goats to female farmers in the area of Traditional Authority Kasumbu where the scheme was launched.
Action Aid Cluster Program Manager for the Central region Wongani Mugaba said organization anticipates a breakthrough in ending gender based violence.
Mugaba observed that most GBV cases occur due to lack of financial independence among women.
In her remarks, Dedza District Gender Officer Lisnet Kathyole commended Action Aid for the support and pledged government will ensure the project is revived once it draws to a close.
