An expert of Psychology has advised survivors of sexual abuse to speak out and share their experiences to get proper counseling to help in their recovery process.
The call comes as cases of rape and sexual abuse are on the increase in the country.
Speaking to Timveni, Chiwoza Bandawe said rape is a traumatizing experience and it takes time for someone to recover.
According to Bandawe most survivors feel their humanity has been compromised and may easily withdraw from the society.
Bandawe emphasized on getting counseling as soon as one experiences the trauma to relieve pain.
He said communities and family members have a huge responsibility to show love and care and avoid causing anxiety and unnecessary stress to the survivors.
