STREET CONNECTED CHILDREN SIDELINED IN POLIO VACCINATION

By Jecina Chikwelete

One of the country’s child rights activists has accused authorities of denying street connected children right to health.

Amos Chibwana raised the concern after observing that street connected children were sidelined during the polio vaccination campaign.

Chibwana underlined that, "street connected children deserve to enjoy all human rights as any other child."

He added that it is dishearten that society has abandoned street connected children.

The polio vaccine was administered in hospitals, communities and schools.

Government officials are yet to comment on the concerns.
