The National TB Control Program says strategic move by officials in management of hospital visits by TB patients has helped a great deal in reducing Covid-19 cases among TB patients.

Data provided by authorities indicate that out of Sixteen Thousand TB patients, only ten have so far been contracted the Corona virus.

Speaking in Mangochi district, Deputy Programs Manager for the National TB Control Program Isaias Dambe said most TB patients have not been affected by pandemic because drugs were provided in advance for a period of three months.

Against public fears TB patients could be the hardest hit by Covid-19, Dambe hinted that the department ensured that TB patients get enough care and drugs.

Currently, eight TB patients have survived while two have died due to Covid-19.

Malawi is highly rated among countries in the SADC region doing well in the fight against tuberculosis.
