TENGANI HEALTH CENTER RUNS WATERLESS FOR 2 YRS

Officials at Tengani health centre in Nsanje district has complained that sanitation at the facility is compromised after running for 2 years on dry taps.

Thursday’s inspection at the center by Timveni found expectant mothers covering long distances to fetch water in surrounding areas. 

In an interview with Timveni the health officer in charge at Tengani health centre Benito Jedegwa  said, "The institution’s pipes that supply water were vandalized in 2019."

Meanwhile, Nsanje District Hospital Spokesperson George Mbotwa acknowledged the water crisis but said, "Health authorities are working round the clock to rectify the problem." 

Tengani health centre serves a population of more than 29 Thousand from the area of Traditional Authority Tengani and neighboring Mozambique.
