 TIMVENI REWARDS OUTSTANDING STUDENTS

By Kenson McCloud

Timveni, Child and Youth Media Organization through the 18+ Media Plus Project has donated items worth Two Million Kwacha to three outstanding students from Nankhungo CDSS to assist them in their tertiary education.

The two female and male students have been selected to different public universities after excelling with flying colors in the MSCE examinations.

Timveni’s Executive Director Herbert Chidaya said honoring the students is worthwhile as the school has registered its maiden tertiary selection; a development he said will inspire many families and the community at large.

According to Chidaya, the donation is just a catalyst and as such the students need support from all stakeholders to finish tertiary education.

To the students, Chidaya had a message: work hard to inspire fellow peers.

In his remarks, the head teacher of Namphungo CDSS Anusa Tambala expressed gratitude with the support rendered adding the tertiary selections will send a strong message that communities should not tolerate child marriages.

Tambala further called for assistance to build more hostels at Namphungo CDSS to be able to accommodate more students on the campus.

One of the beneficiaries, Yamikani Chimtengo, who has been selected to Chancellor College to pursue Bachelor of Education in Mathematics, could not hide her excitement saying the donation will go a long way in assisting her tertiary education.

The 18+ Atsikana Osaphweketsa Project was launched in 2018, with funding from Plan International, and has been running for three years.
