USI COMMENDS THE PROGRESS IN THE FIGHT AGAINST WILDLIFE CRIMES

By Aamon Butao
Minister of Tourism, Culture and Wildlife, Micheal Usi, has disclosed that the country is doing well in curbing wildlife crimes.
Usi has said this in an interview with Timveni.
According to Usi, those that were involved in wildlife crimes are currently being prosecuted in court.
The minister said this is happening as the ministry is in a massive campaign of civic-educating the masses on poaching and encroachment in protected areas.
He also commended some Malawians who are reporting people suspected of committing wildlife crimes.
Usi, therefore, said the ministry will not give up o enforcing and establishing tough laws and policies that will help in safeguarding wildlife in the country.
He urged all game rangers in the country to use force when dealing with poachers that have encroached in protected areas.
