WOMEN APPLAUDED FOR CONTRIBUTIONS IN AGRICULTURE

As Malawi joins the world in Commemorating International Women's Day today, women have been applauded for their contributions in agriculture sector.
Speaking with Timveni, one of the experts in the agriculture sector Dr. Felix Lombe said that women contribute 60% in the agriculture production although they do not have control over what they produce.
"It is pleasing to note that of late, women have been given access to loans, to boost their activities in agriculture," said lombe.
On the other hand Dr. Lombe said Malawi is still lagging behind on some polices which hinder women’s participation in agriculture.
The International Women’s Day is being commemorated under the theme “Women in Leadership at all levels”.
