WORD ALIVE LAUNCHES ‘NDITHA’ PROJECT TO PROMOTE GIRLS EDUCATION

By Jecina Chikwelete

In a quest to reduce school dropout rate among primary and secondary school girls, Word Alive Ministries International is implementing "Nditha" project in traditional Authority Chiseka in Mitundu in Lilongwe.

Speaking at an annual conference called "Nditha" the Church’s Project Officer Pastor Rose Munthali said the country has a huge problem of many primary learners not going further with their education up to Secondary level.

Munthali said the event was organized to encourage girls to work hard in school to achieve their goals in life.

According to Munthali, transition from standard 6 to secondary school is the most critical stage as most girls either get pregnant or dropout from school due to peer pressure.

Form one student Leah Valinyo said the motivation talk has inspired her to work hard in school and stop indulging in risky behaviors.
