Cultural norms which are deemed to be affecting the relationship between youth organizations and eventually the implementation of interventions aimed at empowering young people in the communities.
According to the organization’s Programs Manager, Weston Mfune, many young people lack interest to contribute towards youth-led programs due to some cultural beliefs and lack of financial capacity.
Youth Wave works with young people to end child marriages and help the youth to access Sexual and Reproductive Health Services.
Mfune says the youth have to be involved when implementing projects to foster the relationship between young people and youth organizations.
In an interview with Timveni Online, Mfune has pointed out that harmful cultural norms affect young people’s access to Sexual and Reproductive Health Services and also lead to an increase in child marriages.
